Where they are allowed and not allowed with a Schengen visa. Visa processing and holidays in the Faroe Islands How to behave at an interview at the consulate

The Faroe Islands are a popular tourist destination in high demand. Despite belonging to Denmark, the islands are not included in the Schengen area. In view of this, Russians need a visa document to visit the region.

Registration procedure

To obtain a visa, a citizen needs to apply to one of the diplomatic institutions of Denmark. Submission of documents is made at least 14 days before the date of entry. Similar requirements are imposed on Belarusians, Ukrainians and citizens of other CIS countries.

Required Documentation

A standard visa to the Faroe Islands is issued after submitting the following official papers to the visa center:

  • International passport.
  • Photos in the amount of 2 pieces, having a size of 3.5x4.5 cm.
  • A copy of the passport of a citizen of Russia.
  • A completed application form.
  • Certificate from the employer about official employment.
  • A document confirming the hotel reservation.
  • Insurance.

It must be remembered that the passport must contain at least 2 blank pages. In some cases, in order to obtain a permit, you must provide return tickets for the plane.

Traveling with a child

To obtain a visa to visit the resort for children, you must provide a copy of the child's birth certificate to the visa center. In the case when minors are accompanied by one of the parents, it is mandatory to have a notarized agreement to leave from the other partner.

In the case of visiting the islands by a child accompanied by third parties (other than parents), an agreement from both parents must be provided in order to obtain an entry document. An exception is situations in which one or both parents are absent, deprived of the rights to the child, or are in an unknown place. At the same time supporting documents are presented.

Processing time

Consideration of the questionnaire and verification of the applicant's papers, as a rule, last from 8 to 10 business days. An increase in the preparation period is possible if the immigration service of the islands is involved in the process. At the same time, the processing time is increased to 60 days. Transit and business visa documents are prepared in 5 working days.

In most cases, the documentation is subject to verification by the immigration service, especially if the tourist does not use the services of an operator or agency, but travels independently. At the same time, the probability of refusal to obtain an entry certificate increases.

Validity periods

The period for which a visa remains valid depends on its type. Conventionally, entry documents are divided into short-term and long-term.

The first ones include:

  • Transit visa. Provided to persons for whom the Faroe Islands is a non-final destination. The duration of the visa is 5 days. At the same time, passengers are prohibited from leaving the transit zone.
  • Tourist visa. It is issued to persons whose purpose of visiting is to see cultural and historical sights, get acquainted with the local color, participate in national festivals and other events. The allowed length of stay corresponds to the duration of the hotel reservation period.
  • Guestbook. Provided to persons with the purpose of visiting friends or relatives who are citizens of Denmark. An invitation document is required for entry. It, in addition to other information about the visit of a foreign guest, indicates the duration of his stay in the Faroe Islands.

Long-term visas to the Faroe Islands for Russians also include business visas. They are provided to persons whose purpose of visiting is contract employment or study at local educational institutions. The duration of the entry document directly depends on the terms of the contract.

Insurance

To visit the Faroe Islands, a guest must have an insurance policy without fail. This is especially true for persons applying for a multiple-entry visa. On subsequent visits, a certified certificate of health insurance must be provided.

Primary requirements:

  • The insurance policy is valid on the territory of the Faroe Islands and the Schengen countries.
  • If it is necessary to urgently return home, the policy fully covers the expenses of the tourist.
  • The validity period of the policy is 15 days longer than the time spent on the islands.
  • The insurance coverage provided by the policy is at least 30,000 euros.
