During the time of the Kantakuzen family, descendants of the last Byzantine emperors, the city again raised its head, but Michael, who was then the heirs of the family, was then forced to flee to the Wallachian lands. The calm atmosphere in Pomorie is due to the fact that this is a small town with a population of 14 thousand people and that this is not the center of resort life. During the high season, the number of residents in Pomorie, of course, increases, but there are incomparably fewer vacationers here than in Burgas, Nessebar or Sunny Beach.

This is a good place for families with a baby: no noise will prevent the little one from sleeping.

But the situation with the cost of rest has changed a little. Previously, children came to Pomorie in search of inexpensive housing, and the resort had mostly three-star hotels and simple apartments.

Now the city has acquired several solid complexes, where there is everything for families with children and even an all-inclusive system is offered. The number of spacious, well-equipped apartments has also grown.

Rest in Pomorie could be called boring: there are only two museums and one archaeological site. The situation is saved by the fact that there are plenty of attractions around the resort, and for a trip on an excursion it is not even necessary to rent a car - you can use public transport.

The main drawback of the resort is that there are almost no entertainment and playgrounds for children in Pomorie. Therefore, it is worth putting toys for the beach, drawing supplies and everything that will help keep the child busy in the luggage of preschoolers.

The holiday season in Pomorie is tied to the weather forecast and to charters arriving in Burgas. Mostly people come to the resort in summer and early autumn: this is the time when you can relax on the beach for your pleasure.

The opening time of the season in Pomorie can be judged by the schedule of water parks. The new Sunset Water Park invites guests from the end of May and is open until mid-September.

Water parks in the neighboring Nessebar and Sunny Beach adhere to the same schedule. It is only necessary to say that the water in the pools is not heated and at the beginning of the season it can be as cold as in the sea.

When is the best time to go to Pomorie? In the second half of summer, the sea warms up well, but the weather can be too hot. But the beginning of September is the velvet season in all its glory. If you are looking for an opportunity to relax on the beach and at the same time not fight for a place in the sun, choose a warm and sunny beginning of autumn for your trip.

Weather and climate

The air temperature graph in Pomorie is as flat as the sand dunes located near the resort. The winter in the resort is warm, the summer is hot, the weather in spring and autumn is similar to summer, you can swim in the sea until October itself - in general, the climate of Pomorie is just the same as the climate of a seaside resort should be.

By mid-May, the air in Pomorie warms up to + 20-24 ° C, but the cold sea and frequent rains can interfere with a good rest with a child. In June, rain is also not uncommon, but the air temperature rises to + 25-28 ° C, and the water in the sea gradually warms up.

July and August are the hottest months in the resort. During the day, the thermometers climb to + 30 ° C, and by night they drop to + 20 ° C. At the same time, heat and stuffiness are not felt, since the peninsula is blown from all sides by the wind. There is almost no rain in the second half of summer.

The main reason to plan a holiday in Pomorie for July-August is the really warm sea, where even the little ones can splash around for a long time.

You can count on the best vacation in Pomorie with children in September when the summer heat is gone. The air temperature drops to +25°C, almost equaling the sea temperature. This is a good time for a trip with a baby to Pomorie: acclimatization is likely to pass unnoticed.

The weather in the second half of September is unpredictable. But usually by the end of the month the air cools down to + 20 ° C, it rains more and more often. In early October, the resort is empty - there is nothing to do in the small town until next spring.

Sea water temperature

No matter how hot the spring in Pomorie is, the swimming season opens no earlier than in mid-June. This is due to the cold water that the currents bring from the bays of the Odessa region. So in May, when the sea temperature barely reaches + 18-19 ° C, almost no one swims in Pomorie.

With the advent of summer, the water gradually warms up. Even if June is not very serene, the water in the sea warms up to + 23 ° C. In July-August, the water temperature in Pomorie rises to + 24-26 ° C.

The sea remains just as warm in the first two or three weeks of autumn. Then the water gradually cools down, and already in early October the water temperature drops to +20°C.

Nutrition

In Bulgaria, the all-inclusive system is not very common, but it is still found in small isolated resorts. In Pomorie, all inclusive offer several hotels in the new city, but more often hotel restaurants work on the menu.

The choice of restaurants, pizzerias, cafes in Pomorie is not bad. As elsewhere, you should focus on establishments where locals dine. Haute cuisine here is rather weak, but real Bulgarian cuisine can be tasted.

Intercity transport does not always call in Pomorie. Most buses from Burgas to Sunny Beach stop on the very outskirts of the city, near the Sunset water park.

From hotels in the new city, you can walk to the stop in 5-10 minutes, but from the center you will have to walk at least an hour. Therefore, to move around Pomorie and travel to the lake, they usually use a taxi or rent a car upon arrival in Burgas.

Some buses still call in the city center, and this affects the fare. So, a ticket from Pomorie to Burgas costs 3.50 leva if you sit down in the center, and 3 leva if you go from a new city.

Unfortunately, there is no discount on tickets for children.. There are timetables at bus stops and on the websites of carriers, but buses do not always strictly adhere to it.
